Quique Sanchez Flores on the brink at Watford after poor run of form in 2016

Quique Sanchez FloresmThe Watford fans who are gathered at the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by their manager.

The Telegraph is reporting that Quique Sanchez Flores is resigned to leaving the club at the end of the end of the season despite him pleading with the club’s owners for stability.

Flores has endured a torrid time during 2016 with wins becoming less regular than at the first half of the season, and despite the club being safe this season and reaching the FA Cup Semi Final it appears that the Watford owners are ready to swing the axe.

Speaking about his future, Flores said: “It is not easy to create a model or a style in eight months.

“You need to make mistakes, to make changes, choose players well, a lot of things. If you look at teams that have done well at this level over the past five years, such as Southampton for example, it is because they have taken time to change.

“I don’t think anything is going to change the mentality of the club. If my future depends on the last few results of course I dont have a future with this team.

“I spoke with the owner for two hours last week and we are at the same point as we were before the semi-final. For me the most important thing is that when I came here, the idea was to keep this team in the Premier League. That is done, the work of the players has been brilliant and it is amazing to be completely safe with three games to go.”

The Watford fans in The Tavern hope that Flores stays and hope the owners listen to what he says about stability for the club to progress.

Our landlord has to agree with the Watford faithful in the Tavern, and feel the manager has been fantastic since his arrival at Vicarage Road, but has just been going through a sticky patch in 2016!
