This week Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has been making all the headlines after a 3-0 drubbing against Chelsea and a Carling Cup defeat to Manchester City. Robin van Persie is out for months and Andrey Arshavin has been telling the world of his Arsenal woes. The week has been very stressful for the Frenchman.
After the Chelsea defeat Arsene Wenger blamed the referee Andre Marriner. “It was the turning point from the referee which I believe was not a serious decision,” Wenger said. “How can he see Eduardo kicking the ball out of Cech’s hands when there was a Chelsea player in front of him? That was a big mistake by the referee. If you see the replay then Eduardo is not even in there.”
What he really means – “We were rubbish and Chelsea are better, but I won’t admit it because I am French.”
Again the fall out from this game continued with Wenger stating, “We are fighters.”
What he really means – We haven’t got a hope in hell of competing against Chelsea and Manchester United, the kids ‘experiment’ his failing.
On his refusal to shake Mark Hughes hand after the Carling Cup defeat, “I will when people behave properly. I will, but I am not a slave to the ceremony. I have my freedom and, like you, I have my views.”
What he really means – I hate Mark Hughes
Asked about Denilson, “Denilson gives us a stability. He’s a good passer and keeps it simple, which is always a sign of class.”
What he really means – Why did I let Flamini leave!
Its been a tough week for Mr Wenger and Gunners, the way his side are performing has clearly irritated the Frenchman. Lets see what happens against Stoke.
