Race Hots Up For €6M Forward As Arsene Searches For Bendtner Replacement

They may have crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday, but Lech Poznan striker Artjoms Rudnevs at least has a reason to be happy.  The race for his signature is really hotting up with Arsenal reportedly joining the race to sign the player.

The 23 year old striker has been linked to numerous other big clubs recently and has been in good form for his side this season and he may have a big decision to make this Summer.

Rudnevs began his career in his native Latvia playing for FC Daugava, but it wasn’t long before he was moving again and in early 2009 he moved to Hungarian side Zalaegerszegi TE (spelling that was a mission!) and again he was very successful and had an impressive scoring record.  After just one season in Hungary the striker was on the move again and signed for Lech Poznan signing a 4 year contract.  He soon settled and scored a hat trick against Juventus in the Europa League and from that moment there were numerous interested parties monitoring the Latvian.

The striker who can also play on the right wing, has a keen eye for goal and an excellent finish.  His scoring record has been very strong with all the clubs he has played for and it appears that soon the player will get to test his skills at a higher level.

Arsenal have watched the player on numerous occasions and have considered a bid of around £5million this Summer, Fulham have also shown interest in the player, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona, and one of the sides he has tortured in European competition Juventus.

Things have happened very quickly for the 22 year old, and he said in December that he would favour a move to Barcelona, but it deserves questioning whether the player is at that level at this stage in his career, the same could be said for Arsenal.  Clearly a prolific goal scorer in less prestigious leagues and successful in the Europa League it doesn’t necessarily transfer to success in a club chasing Champions League glory.  Having said that, with the previous success of the Arsenal scouting network he is a player that should be taken seriously if Arsene Wenger is interested.

It would seem to me that Fulham may be the club best suited to aid the players development, there would be more first team opportunities there for him and it is a club where he can dip his toes into the water of top flight football.  It would be understandable though if he did end up at Juve, Barce or Arsenal however, resisting the pull of a club like that? Not easily done!
