Newcastle United are on par of picking up an unwanted record after they suffered another defeat in the Premier League on Saturday.
Rafa Benitez’s side were not handed out any favours by the fixture list when it first came out and have already had the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in their first five matches – with Cardiff City being the other.
However, according to the Shields Gazette, the Spaniard is not too concerned by their league position at the moment and believes his team will still pick up points against the other teams they play this season.
“It’s something you cannot control,” he said about the fixtures that the Magpies have already had.
“All you can do is just be sure that when you approach the games, you have the belief and the confidence to get something. That’s the point.
“The disappointment is because we were so close, against Tottenham and even Chelsea, so we have to manage these situations a little bit better.
“So we will be a better team and get points against other teams.”
Benitez is right not to be worried or concerned about how his side are currently looking in the Premier League.
The fixture list has not been kind to Newcastle so far, however, their performances have not been poor and the Spaniard will be confident his team can pick up the points against opponents they feel they should be beating.
The Cardiff game would have been disappointing, especially given that they had a late penalty to get all the three points but missed, however, there have been signs that they will be able to cause teams trouble when they adopt an attacking outlook moving forward.
