Newcastle United will be desperate to improve on their poor start to the season as they could face early-season relegation worries.
The Magpies won’t want to suffer relegation to the Championship at any cost, but this could be the reality if they don’t start to seek improvements at St James’ Park. And, to make matters worse, it looks as if Rafa Benitez has put his own future in doubt, as according to the Mirror, Benitez will quit Newcastle United unless he receives backing in the transfer market.
Worryingly, Rafa Benitez will walk away from Newcastle at the end of the season unless there is a dramatic change in spending policy.
The Spaniard’s contract ends in June, and there is no sign he will get the resources to build a top 10 team.
Officially Benitez insists he will see what happens in January before considering any new deal. But it is unlikely significant funds will be made available and recruitment is difficult mid-season.
“My view was very clear at the beginning when I decided to stay – potential, project, to compete in the top 10.
“That’s not the case now, so then we have to review things. It’s obvious to everyone we have to do things in another way.
“But at the same time it’s very clear for me that we have to concentrate to get results and to stay in the Premier League.”
Newcastle United will be desperate to hold onto Rafa Benitez for the long-term as he is one of the best managers in the whole of world football.
Although, the club’s lack of backing has had a negative effect on his outlook at St James’ Park, so changes in terms of transfers definitely need to be made.
Worrying times for Newcastle United as Benitez has acknowledged that his side need to get the results to avoid relegation to the Championship.
