The Magpies are in the Transfer Tavern today and they are discussing the most recent player they have been linked with.
Reports have surfaced in the last week stating Newcastle’s intent to sign out of favour Arsenal striker, Lucas Perez.
Our landlord has always been a big fan of the 28-year-old and feels like he has been horrendously underused at Arsenal.
Since he signed last year, Perez has bagged eight goals and six assists in 22 games. Contributing to 14 goals in 22 games means he is more deserving of a starting place with a Premier League side.
He also scored a hat-trick on his Champions league debut, if you still weren’t convinced of his talent.
Although Newcastle aren’t exactly lacking talented strikers with Dwight Gayle leading the lined for them last season, Perez would offer something different going forward and variety is the spice of life.
Arsenal’s valuation of £13.4 million isn’t even that much considering what Rafa Benitez would be getting in return.
A competent striker with a natural ability to score goals.
It is players like the Spaniard who could be the difference between Newcastle’s survival and relegation come to the conclusion of next season.
If Perez can do what our landlord thinks he is capable of at St James’ Park next season, then Arsene Wenger could be left kicking himself if Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t work out.
