Rafa Benitez tells Achraf Lazaar he can leave

Newcastle United are still looking to offload a couple of players from the books and one player has been told he has no future at the club.

According to a report in The Northern Echo, Achraf Lazaar is a player that is thought to be heading for the exit door this summer, with Rafa Benitez making it clear he does not feature in his plans.

It is understood the left-back is likely to head overseas, rather than stay in English football after he spent last season on loan with Benevento. It is believed that the player’s agent is trying to work on a move that will see him return to Italy.

The 26-year-old has failed to make an impact since his arrival in 2016 from Palermo and only managed to play 37 minutes in four substitute appearances (via WhoScored) during their Championship campaign, as they won the division and returned back to the Premier League.

The Verdict:

Lazaar will be disappointed his move to England did not work out as planned and will be looking for a swift return to Italy.

The Morocco international will be looking to resurrect his career after a nightmare two years at St. James’ Park and will be hoping he can find a club that will give him first-team football.

The player had been left out of the club’s official squad list for the upcoming season, showing that Benitez had no plans on using him during the new campaign.
