The Toon Army in the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping to see a new striker arrive at St James’ Park this month to boost their hopes of survival.
Rafa Benitez’s side are currently in the midst of an intense fight for survival that could potentially result in the relegation of any three of the bottom eleven teams in the Premier League. The punters clad in black and white propping up our bar in the tavern are desperately hoping to avoid an immediate return to The Championship this season, and they believe that the acquisition of a proven goalscorer could make all the difference to their campaign.
Newcastle strikers Dwight Gayle and Joselu have failed to find the back of the net on a regular basis so far this season – a fact which has illuminated The Magpies need to strengthen their forward options this month.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are planning on doing just that, as they have already had a bid rejected for Feyenoord talisman Nicolai Jorgensen.
The Danish international boasts an excellent record of 34 goals and 20 assists from 61 appearances for the Dutch giants, so it’s no surprise that plenty of Newcastle fans are hoping Mike Ashley will make him their club’s record-signing this month.
However, the majority of supporters have criticised Ashley for failing to wrap up a deal so far, and they seem convinced that Jorgensen will remain a Feyenoord player this month due to their club’s questionable transfer history.
Here’s what the supporters have had to say about the Ashley and Newcastle’s chances of signing Jorgensen on Twitter…
Patience is running thin with this man! I can’t imagine the backlash if we don’t get anyone in

Ashley strikes again

Can see the sky sports headlines on deadline day taking shape. “Newcastle try but ultimately fail in multiple attempts to get players over the line.”

Why does club come out with the nonsense of breaking the transfer record when they won't
— Anderson (@k1ando2) January 24, 2018
Agree but we all know Ashley will never learn his lesson. He's a chancer, a gambler and he's all too aware that not every gamble comes off. Just need rid of him and his tea boy Charnley before this club can ever do anything.

NUFC operate the same way Sports Direct do at knockdown prices all the time. What’s the point in going for 2nd choice if 1st choice is doable. Rafa must be fuming if this is out of his control

So a cynical person might say Ashley got Sky to leak it thus alerting other clubs thus forcing up the price thus giving him a reason to say “exploring other options” thus giving him a reason to spend nowt
