Liverpool started the season strongly and will be looking to carry their momentum through to Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace.
The Reds invested heavily over the course of the summer transfer window and will be looking to put their plans into action as the campaign progresses. But, they did have to say goodbye to one of their first team members recently, as according to Liverpool’s official website, Ragnar Klavan has completed his move to Serie A side Cagliari.
Ragnar Klavan has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side Cagliari.
Indeed, the Estonian sealed the formalities of his switch to Cagliari on Friday ahead of their first game of the Serie A season, at Empoli on Sunday.
The centre-back featured in 28 games last season, including eight Champions League appearances as Liverpool reached the final, and claimed a memorable winning goal in stoppage-time against Burnley.
So, Liverpool have waved goodbye to a central defender that never really did too much wrong during his time at Anfield, and this could prove to be a mistake if they suffer a couple of defensive injuries.
The Reds already have the likes of Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez at their disposal in that particular position, so it won’t come as too much of a surprise as they already have a settle defence.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp did want to raise some funds after a busy summer transfer window, and it looks as if he has managed to do that by selling Klavan.
