Interestingly, the new deal, which will keep the England ace at the Etihad until 2023, could eventually earn him around £300,000 a week.
Indeed, the agreement is timely as City were starting to worry about the 23-year-old’s long-term future with just 18 months remaining on his existing deal.
So, it is a reward for Sterling’s superb recent form which has seen him a standout performer in Pep Guardiola’s side.
