Ranger departs Newcastle by ‘mutual consent’

ranger.jpgThere is shock news here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mail claim that Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has left the club by mutual consent.

The club and player have parted ways in a shocking turn of events in which the club simply released a statement claiming: ‘Newcastle United can confirm that Nile Ranger has today left the club by mutual consent.’

The player himself is somewhat troubled at the minute and is currently on bail pending a trial for rape. Not only this but he has struggled to find his feet this season and really it comes as little surprise to us in the tavern that Newcastle were not exactly bending over backwards to keep the player.

Ranger himself took to the social networking site Twitter to express his emotions and simply claimed: ‘I am happy.’ Quite how happy he actually is at this current time really remains to be seen but the 21-year-old is certainly on the edge with regards to his career.

The player made 51 appearances for the Magpies’ first team after coming through the ranks at the club, five of which were starts yet his career has been marred by controversy with his off the field activities making the headlines much more often than his on field ones.

Is Nile Ranger’s career as a Premier League footballer over? Would you give him a second chance? Let us know your thoughts below.
