The last thing that Rangers fans want is to let bitter rivals Celtic secure glory in the form of the Scottish Premiership title this season, so the Old Firm clash at the end of this month could prove to be a day to remember if the Light Blues manage to get the better of the Hoops once again.
Although, it looks as if the Glasgow side are currently more focused on the summer transfer window, as according to The Express, Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen see Millwall’s Mahlon Romeo as a viable option at right-back.
What’s the News?
Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen are both keen on pushing ahead with transfer plans and see Romeo as solid option at right-back, with James Tavernier’s future starting to worry many.
Interestingly, the 23-year-old will be a free agent in June but West Ham are also interested.
The right-back has been hugely impressive at the Den in the current campaign as he continues to cause problems in attacking areas and knows how to ensure defensive solidity.
The big worry for everyone involved with Rangers Football Club at this moment in time is the future of James Tavernier as he’s been one of the standout performers at Ibrox this season, with his goals, assists and captaincy only adding to the potential pain if he decides to leave in the summer transfer window.
However, Mahlon Romeo is very similar in many ways as he looks to make use of his pace down the right-hand side and he possesses the ability to whip a decent ball into the box too, so fans could warm to him quite easily.
Many fans may see bringing Romeo in as a gamble as he only has one assist to his name at this moment in time, which is nothing compared to Tavernier’s 14 goals and 17 assists, but he’s still young and will be a free agent in the summer so it’s not like they’ll have to break the bank to sign him.
