Rangers fans take to Twitter to urge Tavernier to stay at Ibrox

This season has seen James Tavernier really step up at Ibrox. The English defender is in the form of his life and it’s no surprise to see that he’s being linked with a move to the Premier League. The 27-year-old, according to The Daily Mail, is a transfer target for Brighton and Hove Albion in January, and The Gers are desperate to keep him at the club.

Tavernier has turned into something of Steven Gerrard’s go-to man. The defender has showed maturity beyond his years at Ibrox in his short time playing under Gerrard, helping his side with his goals, assists, clean sheets and leadership. In 19 games this season the right-back has chipped in with six goals and eight assists and it would be awful for The Bluenoses if he was to leave for Brighton in the January window.

The defender was again on the scoresheet yesterday as his Stevie G’s side put the league leaders, Hearts to the sword with a 3-1 win at Ibrox. Tavernier again bossed it and showed why he wears the armband and what he’s capable of when he’s in the mood. There are only a handful of players that the Gers would not even consider selling and Tavernier is firmly one of those, with his delightful displays this season only bolstering that position.

You can read The Bluenoses’ verdict on Tavernier here:

The Gers are in love with Tavernier and would be gutted if he decided to leave Ibrox anytime soon.
