Reading looking to pinch Liverpool target

ince.jpgAnother set of Thomas Ince stories have been doing the rounds in the Football Transfer Tavern, and Dean Jones of the Daily Mirror reckons Liverpool face competition in their bid to sign the young winger.

Reading have emerged as shock candidates to try and secure his signature, with reports suggesting they are willing to offer Blackpool £8 million for his services.

Liverpool have been trying to negotiate a deal for their former player throughout the January transfer window, but have been knocked back time and again by the Seasiders who have refused to budge over their valuation of the player who was let go from Anfield in 2011.

Kop bosses were hoping to sign Ince for as little as £4.5m due to a sell-on agreement they have in place, although it appears Reading’s willingness to meet the asking price will mean the Anfield club will have to raise their offer or risk losing out on a man they have spent the entire transfer window chasing.

The Royals’ Russian owner Anton Zingarevich is willing to spend money to help Brian McDermott build a squad capable of avoiding relegation.

Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin had been the clubs top target, although it appears the attention has now turned to Ince.

The 20-year-old winger fired his 14th and 15th goals of the season during Blackpool’s 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux yesterday.
