Real deal Sergio Canales moving to Old Trafford?

Manchester United are attempting to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Spanish teen sensation Sergio Canales according to the Daily Mail.

18 year old midfielder Canales, who plays for La Liga side Racing Santander, is considered one of the hottest young prospects in world football after some sensational performances this season. The young Spaniard has had interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City. With only six months left on talented youngsters’ contract it appeared Real Madrid had stolen a march on their rivals after a verbal agreement was reached between the two Spanish clubs and Canales’ father agent. However just days after the transfer deadline it has come to light that no pre-contract agreement has been signed and Racing Santander are believed to be holding out for a loan back deal. This news has alerted Manchester United to the prospect of stealing the player under arch rivals Real Madrid’s noses. Whilst Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to tie up the deal, the Daily Mail claim it will take much work to complete after the player claims Real Madrid as his first choice destination.

The talented midfielder who rose through the ranks at Racing Santander has established himself in the first team squad at only the tender age of 18. With an extremely impressive  6 goals in 13 games this season including 2 sublime goals in a 1-2 away victory against Sevilla this season, you can see why some of Europe’s big clubs are circling. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can prise him away from Real Madrid’s clutches as it is believed the impasse between Racing Santander and Real Madrid is still being negotiated.
