Both Tottenham and Real Madrid fans are raising their eyebrows here at the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mirror claim that a cash plus player deal could be on the horizon for Gareth Bale.
Given that Daniel Levy has placed a £100million price tag on the forward’s head, he may have thought this would deter potential suitors. As anyone who knows the man would tell you, Florentino Perez is not of that mould and would probably have been further spurred on to land the Welshman.
Now the Real Madrid president has sanctioned a bid of no more than £45million for Bale but is willing to offer either Gonzalo Higuain or Angel Di Maria as part exchange. Spurs have long been fans of Higuain and a forward is something that the club are in desperate need of this summer especially when you consider the abysmal performance that Adebayor put in against Manchester City at the weekend.
The possibility of Di Maria moving to North London is slightly more remote with the winger under a lengthy contract not to mention firmly a Jorge Mendes man and should a move for the Argentine take place, it will most likely be to the next club that employs his current manager Jose Mourinho.
Given that Bale has claimed he wishes to remain at Spurs not to mention the fact he’s just penned a deal with BT for their coverage next season, it seems a stay in the Premier League, at least for another season, is on the cards.
Would this be a fair deal for Bale? Rate this rumour below.
