Real Madrid demand mammoth sum for sale of global superstar

Some intriguing news has broke in the Football Transfer Tavern this past week that Cristiano Ronaldo could be set to leave Real Madrid…

Pint pots were smashed on the Tavern’s newly refurbished floor when the news broke that one of the best players in the world had declared his intention to leave the Champions League winners, amid suggestions that he no longer wishes to continue his career in Spain.

An interesting article in today’s Daily Mail, however, could indicate that any club wishing to sign the Portuguese phenomenon might be thwarted by such a staggering asking price.

The landlord’s paper is suggesting that Madrid will ask for £350 million from any potential suitor which could price both Manchester United and PSG out of the running for his signature.

Ronaldo has a buy-out clause in the region of £870 million although no club – including in China – will pay anywhere close to that and it now seems likely that Madrid will consider business for around the £350 million mark.

Manchester United would seem like an option for the 32-year-old to consider given that he holds the club in high regard having played for the previously, although big spending PSG might try and entice Ronaldo with a sky high financial package.

One United fan is enjoying one of the landlord’s all-day breakfast butties here in the Tavern this morning and he says that although he would love to see Ronaldo back in a Manchester United shirt, he simply cannot condone such a heft financial package when the current squad needs so much work doing to it.

Manchester United fans, would you want the club to pay £350 million for Ronaldo? Let us know in the comments below!!!
