Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a difficult time, which they’re treating like an emotional break-up, as they debate whether Jose Mourinho should continue to lead their West London side.
In fact, it appears the Blues may be left hapless and the decision could be left out of their hands as The Sun report Real Madrid want to bring the Portuguese manager back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Club president Florentino Perez still rates Mourinho as the best coach in world football and Los Blancos need a new leader, with Rafael Benitez’ arrival in the summer contributing to uninspiring performances on the field.
It seems likely Real Madrid will miss-out on the La Liga title to arch-rivals Barcelona once again and they could also face problems in their beloved Champions League, with sides like Bayern and Barca both considered superior.
Mourinho managed Real Madrid for three years but left in 2013 after a trophy-less season. The following season, Carlo Ancelotti led the side to their tenth European Cup.
The Portuguese boss may feel he has unfinished business in the Spanish capital and with pressure rising at Stamford Bridge, he could be open to the idea of an escape to Spain.
