The Football Transfer Tavern is a buzz of activity with the Sunday Times reporting that Real Madrid are ready to enter the tussle for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as they seek an alternative to main transfer target Gareth Bale.
Madrid have reportedly made a bid over £80million for Bale that has been rejected by Tottenham and now they are concerned that a failure to land the Welsh international would leave Carlo Ancelotti short of options in attack.
Main striker Gonzalo Higuain has joined Napoli in deal worth nearly £30m but the Bernabeu club are yet to replace the Argentine with only Spanish youngster Isco and Asier Illarramendi arriving in Madrid this summer.
This could see Madrid reviving their interest in signing the Uruguayan international as a replacement for Higuain.
The news of possible interest from Madrid will come as a major blow to Arsenal’s hope of signing the former Ajax man during the current transfer window. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has seen another bid of exactly £40,00001 rejected as he looked to unsettle the 26-year-old at Anfield, an offer that meant the Reds had to inform the player of the offer.
However Suarez has already admitted that he wants to join Madrid this summer as he seeks Champions League football and it seems likely that Liverpool would rather see their star striker move aboard rather than to another Premier League rival.
