Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern can hardly contain their excitement upon hearing reports from the Daily Star than Angel Di Maria has agreed personal terms over a switch to Old Trafford.
New United boss Louis van Gaal is set to officially take control following the Netherlands third place play off with Brazil tonight, and has left executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in charge of recruiting world class talent.
And Argentine Di Maria is set to follow Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw to Old Trafford, with reports in Spain suggesting the winger has reached an agreement that will see him earn a huge £150,000 a week.
It now remains to be seen whether United can agree a fee with Real Madrid for Di Maria, who is currently preparing for tomorrow’s World Cup final against Germany.
Madrid are likely to agree to a transfer, with talks over a new contract at the Bernaebu scrapped due to the players high wage demands.
They are looking to recoup around £40million for the 26-year-old, although United remain confident a deal can be struck for closer to £30million.
Manchester United fans, what do you make of the potential signing of Di Maria? Are you pleasantly surprised at the work being done by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward after last summer’s shambles? Let us know your thoughts below.
