Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been handed something of an early Christmas present this morning after The Sun reports that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to re-join Manchester United in the summer.
Just this week, word in the tavern was that Sir Alex Ferguson wants him to return to Old Trafford in the near future and now Sun Sport correspondent Antony Kastrinakis revealed that the 27-year-old wants to quit Spain to return to his old stomping ground.
The former Sporting Lisbon winger has netted 170 times in his 169 games for Real since he made the move in 2009 but any transfer could be prevented by his massive financial worth.
Ronaldo has a one billion euros get-out clause at the Bernabeu and has two and half years left to run on his current deal which could make a transfer financially impossible with Madrid thought to want an incredible £122 for the Portuguese star.
The news that we will take with a pinch of salt and a pack of peanuts comes just after Real Madrid were drawn against United in the upcoming Champions League clash and it could be that Ronaldo is more likely to turn up at the Football Transfer Tavern himself than be back playing at Old Trafford in the red of United again.
