Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has not surprised the Transfer Tavern by claiming he would rather move to Manchester United than back to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
Modric has been linked with a move back to White Hart Lane just 12 months after leaving it as part of the deal to take winger Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
The Croatian playmaker is also a target of Manchester United though, withDavid Moyes is craving some further creativity in his midfield as they attack the season.
After seeing bids for Thiago and Cesc Fabreges fail, Moyes is keen to get a deal done as soon as possible and before next weekend’s game with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Modric is just one of a number of players that the United boss is looking at, however Everton’s Marouane Fellaini and Modric’s team mate Mesut Ozil are also on his radar.
Modric is set to play some part for Real Madrid this evening as they open their La Liga campaign at home to Real Betis.
Tottenham are keen to bring at least one Real Madrid star to White Hart Lane as part of the Bale deal but seemingly left back Fabio Coentrao is the only target ready to make the move after handing in a transfer request in the Spanish capital.
The Bale saga will continue to rumble on but Manchester United are set to make a decision on Modric early next week in regards to a bid.
