Yesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern it was all about Arsenal and today it seems that Manchester United are the club we are talking about the most. The Daily Mirror claim that they could be set to receive an approach for keeper David De Gea.
It is claimed that De Gea is wanted by Real Madrid as the eventual successor to Iker Casillas and the Spanish club are willing to stop at nothing in order to land the player. Of course in the Premier League De Gea has come under more than a little bit of criticism due to his alleged weaknesses in the air, yet his reputation is stellar in Spain.
Much has been made of the rift between Iker Casillas and Jose Mourinho this season yet with smart money on Mourinho leaving at the end of the season, Iker still has some time left in between the sticks for the club. Despite this the club are on the look out for someone who they feel could replace the 31-year-old eventually and still see former Atletico Madrid keeper De Gea as that man.
It would not come as a huge surprise if United decided to take the money and run should a solid offer come in for the young stopper and possibly reinvest it in another keeper who they feel could become their long-term number one – perhaps Asmir Begovic as many of our punters presume.
With David De Gea improving of late, would United move him on? Rate this rumour below.
