Tottenham Hotspur failed to spend a penny in the summer transfer window, but this didn’t matter on the opening day of the Premier League campaign as they overcame the challenges of Newcastle.
Spurs will be relying on their star players to carry them through this season after securing a top four spot in the last campaign. Although, it looks as if Mauricio Pochettino will have to fend off advances for one of his players, as according to Don Balon, Real Madrid still want to sign Christian Eriksen this summer.
Real Madrid are set to move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen before the close of the summer window.
Worryingly, Florentino Perez has no desire to wait until the winter window to bring in another big name player and wants to push through a deal for the Spurs midfielder before the end of August.
The Denmark international has been one of Tottenham’s standout performers so far this season and will no doubt play a huge part in their campaign if he stays.
So, Spurs desperately need to ensure that they keep hold of Christian Eriksen this summer as they won’t be able to replace him until January if he departs.
Indeed, the attacking midfielder has provided plenty of assists and goals over the years for the North London club and will continue to grind out world-class performances.
If Mauricio Pochettino lets Eriksen leave this summer then he can kiss goodbye to a top four spot and achieving any success in Europe.
