However, it is players potentially on the way out that are currently making the headlines with The Mirror reporting that Real Madrid want Alvaro Negredo.
The Spaniard is currently out injured but it is suggested that the La Liga giants are hoping to bring the striker back to the club where he graduated.
Negredo was once on the books of the club but only appeared for the side’s B team before moving on.
And it is suggested that a dream return could be on the cards with Madrid set to ask whether they can take him on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
They are willing to match the former Sevilla attacker’s wages but it is hard to imagine that the Citizens will allow such a deal.
However it is more than likely that the 29-year-old striker will be fourth choice striker when he returns from injury with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic all ahead of him in the Manchester City attack.
So the attacker – known as ‘the Beast’ – may yet choose a move away from the Premier League.
