Real Madrid’s Champions League exit has Tottenham fans talking of a Bale return

Just how good would this Tottenham side be if Mauricio Pochettino was to add Gareth Bale? That’s a question that we may actually find out the answer to if things continue to play out as they are with the Welshman’s unrest in the Spanish capital and Los Blancos’ rapid decline, especially after they were humbled in the Champions League Ajax.

When Tottenham sold the Welshman to Real Madrid in summer 2013 it sparked the start of an incredible run that Real Madrid would go on in the Champions League. The Spanish giants have won the tournament in four of the last five years and in that time Bale has brought up 100 goals for the club in all competitions. However, his future is becoming more uncertain by the day.

That’s where Tottenham come in. At the same time as Santiago Solari’s Real Madrid were being taught a lesson in football by a youth Ajax, Bale’s former side were making light work of Borussia Dortmund. Ironically, the four-time Champions League winner will be watching his former side in the quarter-finals whilst he has some midweek evenings off, and next season the Lilywhites would love to see him added to their squad to continue their progression.

You can read the Lilywhites’ calls for Bale’s homecoming here:

Tottenham fans everywhere are desperate to see Bale back where he belongs in North London and would do anything to see him hearing defences apart alongside Harry Kane at the new White Hart Lane.
