Marca.com are reporting that Jose Mourinho is targeting Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez, having gone through practically every other available big-name forward, including Tevez’s teammate, Emmanuel Adebayor.
Gonzalo Higuain’s injury and Karim Benzema’s inconsistency have left Mourinho in real need of another front man, until the Argentine regains full fitness. Among the most recent names linked with a move the Bernabeu are Luis Fabiano, Fernando Llorente, Gekas, Romelu Lukaku, Miroslav Klose, and their latest target, former Madrid man Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Real president, Florentino Perez, has until now been reluctant to spend big on a striker who would just be a temporary replacement for Higuain, yet Mourinho is still thought to prefer a big-name signing as he is keen to offload Benzema. Such conflicts of interest, and probably the simple fact that they seem unable to settle on one target, have meant that Real have managed to miss out on all their targets so far.
Los Merengues seem to have had enough of this, and will bid £35m for Tevez just to bring an end to the frustration. Of course, Tevez declared he couldn’t be at Eastlands any longer because of those relationships and their state of disrepair, and despite Roberto Mancini seemingly willing to forgive the striker his previous transgressions and changes of heart, the feeling persists that everyone at City is just playing nice until June, when Tevez’s situation can be resolved with minimal disruptions.
Of course, this means Jose will have to put up with Benzema for a while longer: until June, at least.
