The £30m signing was linked to Marseille and Inter Milan over the summer but The London Evening Standard exclusively spoke to the Argentine winger, where he stated he never wanted to leave White Hart Lane.
“Ever since I got here, people have spoken about me leaving. They said it the first year, the second year and now in the third. But I didn’t speak because there was nothing to say. My mind has always been here at Tottenham. Would I have moved to Marseille, Inter, back to Roma? No.”
“I have always wanted to stay here and I have always made that clear. It’s something I’ve said to my team-mates, to the club, to everyone. I feel good here, I like it. I am very happy. I feel I’ve adapted and my team-mates make me feel at home.”
Lamela was one of seven players signed with the windfall from Gareth Bale’s sale to Real Madrid in 2013 but he’s only one of three remaining in North London, as the vast majority signed with the £86m Bale fee flopped.
The South American is yet to show his full talent at Tottenham but the fans are the bar are excited after seeing some top displays, which included him starring in the recent Premier League victory over Manchester City.
