We at the Football Transfer Tavern are all delighted to have Harry Redknapp back in time for the January transfer window, and Simon Jones of the Daily Mail reckons he may be about to try and pull off another clever signing.
Redknapp is reportedly considering a bid for Chelsea outcast Florent Malouda, who has not featured for the Blues at all this season.
Malouda has been training with the clubs reserves and academy players, having refused to take a drop in his wages.
The 32-year-old said he would happily see out the remainder of his contract – which expires in six months – despite being told he would not play for the club again.
Chelsea are willing to offer him to anyone on a free transfer, but there has been no interest in the Frenchman thus far.
Redknapp believes he can still offer something in the top flight, but would need to take a cut in his wages should a move prove possible. It remains to be seen whether Malouda wants the chance to play Premier League football, or simply pick up money.
Redknapp has been busy in the transfer window so far, signing French striker Loic Remy last week, Israeli free agent Tal Ben Haim whilst waiting to see if a bid for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila has been succesful.
