Spurs are planning an ambitious swoop for Liverpool and England right back Glen Johnson. Spurs supremo Harry Redknapp clearly believes he can succeed where countless managers before him have failed, and turn Johnson into the World Class defender that many believe his potential warrants.
Johnson, 26, is constantly under pressure from the media and fans alike for his abject defending in high profile games. His attacking prowess is not in question and can often be as efficient as a full-time attacker. Although his delivery to strikers is often questionable at best.
As he approaches his 30th cap for England it seems that even Fabio Capello has been forced to look elsewhere to find a reliable fullback capable of shutting out international wide-men preferring Phil Jagielka, and now recalling Micah Richards back from the international wilderness.
Johnson is held in high regard amongst the Liverpool coaching staff although recently dropped due to lack of form, he has now regained his place and will be looking to get back to his form which persuaded Rafa Benitez to sign him. It is believed Juventus and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Johnsons situation at Liverpool and would be ready to bid if possible.
There has been no speculation yet about the value of the player but if Harry sets his sights on a player, by hook or by crook he normally gets his man.
