Redknapp’s Head Turned By £9M Striker That Can Actually Score

Kenny Dalglish and Harry Redknapp have been put on red-alert by the news that Roma striker Mirko Vucinic could be on his way from the Italian side this summer.

Liverpool and Tottenham both made moves for the player during the January transfer window, but both were turned down by Roma who insisted the player was not for sale. Now however, the player’s agent has made suggestions that Vucinic could be ready to make a move, news which has made Dalglish and Redknapp’s ear’s burn.

In an interview with Italian radio-station CRC, Vucinic’s agent Alessandro Lucci claimed that a move from Roma could be a ‘fascinating prospect’ for the 27 year old. How do these continental radio stations get hold of player’s agents so easily? I’ve yet to hear an agent appear on my local radio station to tell me that the nearest Premier League club is ready to sell it’s star player. Yet in Italy and France agent’s appear virtually every day on radio, in newspapers and on TV! Why can’t they just do it the British way and leak it anonymously to their mate on the sports desk?

Anyway, the battle for Vucinic isn’t a forgone conclusion, with Lucci suggesting that the player may prefer to stay in Italy and play for Roma’s Serie A rivals, Napoli. According to Lucci, Napoli ‘are a team going places and they know they can reach important objectives.’ Despite that, English eyes will be keeping tabs on the 6 foot 1 striker who can also play on the left-wing (music to Dalglish’s ears!)

The Montenegran international, has made 138 appearances for Roma and managed 43 goals. It could take £9 million to lure him away from the bright lights of Rome and Naples.
