The Togolese striker has made it known that he would like to stay at Real Madrid and sign for the club on a permanent basis, sadly however it appears that noone else really wants that, and the only man that actually matters, Jose Mourinho, looks as if he won’t make the move permanent this Summer.
I have harped on before about my frustration as a City fan at seeing Jo wander around football pitches like a lost child at the expense of Adebayor, but now with Edin Dzeko at the club even I wouldn’t be overly upset at the loss of lanky striker. He could be a potential world beater, but sometimes you really have to question his desire, if only he could play against Arsenal every week!
Reports today suggest that his ambition to torture his former employers is about to go into over drive, as a move to Tottenham looks like it might be in the offing, that would go down well with the Emirates faithful i’m sure.
Harry Redknapp clearly is having problems with his strikers, Peter Crouch simply isn’t playing very well, Jermaine Defoe has managed a pitiful 2 league goals all season, both of which came in the same game. In fact Tottenham have only managed 11 goals in their last 10 games, and none in their last 2…and I thought it was City that were supposed to be boring.
Clearly Spurs are not a bad side, they are just having a bad time in front of goal, the one player they do have that has been a consistent goal scorer is Roman Pavlyuchenko and for whatever reason ‘Arry just doesn’t fancy him. Adebayor could potentially really aid that, his scoring record at City was good and he had a habit of scoring goals even when not playing overly well, something Tottenham could really do with at this point.
It is believed that City would want around £15million for the towering striker, but with it looking like Pavlyuchenko will move on this Summer the funds shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The only stumbling block could be whether Roberto Mancini agrees to sell the striker to a rival side, he famously refused to sell Bellamy to Tottenham over the Summer, but it is thought if City secure 4th place this season, he will allow Ade to move back to London.
I am certain that he would score goals at White Hart Lane, and with the ammunition coming from wide areas of the Tottenham team I think it would be a good fit, but with any club thinking of Adebayor, it must always be considered that he will never be a performer for all 38 games of a season, but if he can notch up over 10 goals he’d be doing better than any of the current Spurs forwards!
For what its worth though, lets enjoy THAT goal and celebration against Arsenal once more with this clip from the brilliant Blue Moon Rising!
