Reece Oxford linked with a return to Germany with Hannover 96

With Manuel Pellegrini installed as the new manager of West Ham, owners David Sullivan and David Gold spent heavily this summer to arm the former Manchester City boss with signings they hope can take West Ham to a top eight finish.

The club brought in Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Lucas Perez and Ryan Fredericks to try and improve on the team’s poor season last year.

Tellingly, the introductions of Diop and Balbuena in defence surely means that academy graduate, Reece Oxford, will not get much game time this year.

The young defender had a strange year last season as he was sent on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach, recalled by David Moyes in January, and then sent back to Germany on deadline day.

It now seems that the young defender could be set to once again leave the club for the Bundesliga as according to Kicker, he is being targeted by Bundesliga outfit, Hannover 96.

The Breakdown

After making his debut against Arsenal three years ago, the young defender has found it hard to be able to get back into the starting XI.

The season after he made his debut, the youngster was sent on loan to Reading and then two loan spells in Germany the following year.

With two new defenders at the club, especially fellow youngster, Issa Diop, Oxford doesn’t really have a place in the team.

At only 19, he still has a long way to go in his career and another move to Germany might be good for him.

Would you be happy with Oxford leaving West Ham fans?
