BBC Sport have news that our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been waiting for and of course it concerns former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
Since it became clear the England international would be leaving Chelsea, we have been desperate to hear news about his plans and indeed his next destination.
Lampard has been linked with a move to the MLS but as one of our punters reminds us over a pint, an astonishing 16 clubs have reportedly made the player an offer since news of his availability on a free transfer broke.
Speaking to the media ahead of England’s World Cup warm-up game against Ecuador tonight, Lampard noted that nothing has been ruled out, but he will decide on his future after the conclusion of the Three Lions’ involvement in Brazil.
He noted: “The American thing is an option. I’m looking at different options but I want to carry on playing.”
As our landlord points out, Lampard is still a very good player and we certainly think that he has something left to give.
Newly promoted Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with a move for Lampard but our Blues fans in the tavern do not want to see him wear the shirt of any other Premier League club, let alone their West London rivals.
What will the future hold for Frank Lampard? Have Chelsea made a massive error in allowing him to leave? Let us know your thoughts below.
