And according to the Daily Mail, they may have seen the last of him in the Premier League after one of Europe’s elite firmed up their interest in the former England international.
That club is Serie A side Roma and apparently Cole will soon be heading to the Italian capital to discuss personal terms on a two-year deal.
The 33-year old is available on a free transfer this summer following his exit from Chelsea and it looks as if the Giallorossi have jumped to the front of the queue.
French giants Monaco were reportedly interested in Cole as were Major League Soccer outfit New York Red Bulls.
However, reports suggest that Cole is now set on a Roma move and will hold talks with other clubs before putting pen-to-paper at the Stadio Olimpico.
