West Ham United fans here in the Tavern will be desperate for their side to challenge for a European spot in the next campaign after flirting with the possibility of relegation this season.
Indeed, the Hammers will need to strengthen over the course of the summer transfer window as they won’t want a repeat of this season. Although, it looks as if manager Manuel Pellegrini is looking at bringing in a former colleague, as according to journalist Jacob Steinberg’s personal Twitter account, West Ham United are close to appointing Mario Husillos as their new head of recruitment.

The Argentine worked with new Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini at Spanish side Malaga, where they reached the Champions League quarter final and also earned their highest-ever La Liga finish.
Working with Pellegrini in Spain, Husillos helped sign and develop the likes of Isco, Nacho Monreal, Joaquin and Jeremy Toulalan before they were all sold on for big profits.
Indeed, Husillos returned to Malaga earlier this year and signed eight new players, however, it didn’t particularly work very well as the Spanish side were relegated, with many fans pointing the blame at the 59-year-old.
Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to pick Husillos as the club’s new head of recruitment could come back to bite him if he joins, as West Ham could suffer a similar fate to Malaga, with relegation being a possibility. Although, supporters will be hoping that this doesn’t happen, as many want to see a top-six finish next season.
