Relief for Liverpool: 27-year-old delivers injury update ahead of Man Utd clash

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their side’s win over FC Porto in the Champions League. Though the second-leg ended in a 0-0, the Reds’ unstoppable performance in the first tie was enough to send them through comfortably.

In many ways, it was a complete performance from Liverpool. They did all the hard work a few weeks ago, and last night was all about simply cementing their dominance.

However, whilst all Liverpool fans were sent home happy, the finish was not without concern. As the image below shows, midfielder Jordan Henderson left the field with strapping around his leg – leading many in the pub to fear an injury blow.

However, following the game, Henderson told BT Sport (via the official Liverpool website) that it’s nothing to worry about.

“I just got a dead leg at the end, it should be fine”, he is said to have told the platform.

Though the Englishman was able to finish out the game, it’s always a worry when medical treatment is required, but it appears in this case that he’ll be just fine.

It’s great for Liverpool that that’s the case, too, given that their next game is a big one – a clash with Man Utd on Saturday.

Landlord’s Verdict

Henderson isn’t the most popular member of the Liverpool squad amongst fans, but he’s one of their most important players.

He’s their leader in the midfield, and in big games, his involvement is essential.

The Englishman played well against Porto, and provided that he’s fit, he’ll no doubt be determined to put in a similar performance this weekend.
