Remi Garde set to make his first Aston Villa signing

Remi GardeAston Villa fans in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports the club are set to appoint an assistant manager.

The Telegraph is reporting that new Aston Villa manager Remi Garde is set to announce former Everton and Manchester United assistant manger Steve Round as his number two.

Round has a wealth of experience as a number two, and with his knowledge of the Premier League is seen as the perfect candidate to assist the newly appointed Frenchman.

The 45-year-old is reported to have turned down the same role at Newcastle United in the summer, when Steve McClaren was appointed the club’s new manager.

Garde has been forced to look elsewhere following Lyon’s decision to block moves for both Gerard Baticle and Bruno Genesio.

Round is expected to sign a short term deal with the Midlands club, and Villa hope to have their man in place ahead of Saturday’s game against Everton.

The Aston Villa fans in The Transfer Tavern are excited by the news that Round is expected at Villa Park, as they have admired his achievements in the game.
