Manchester City look to be on their way to record setting season in the Premier League this term as manager Pep Guardiola sees his charges playing some of the finest football the Premier League has seen.
The January transfer window promises to be a quiet one by City’s reputation, but they are nearing a deal for Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte, who should add some much needed steel to the back four.
Here in the Tavern, some rumours of late have been swirling around that City and Pep might well look to move star striker Sergio Aguero on come the summer, and some of the punters here are preparing to say their goodbyes to the Argentine, who will go down as a Premier League legend in future years.
Our landlord thinks he has the ideal replacement in mind though in the form of Ajax starlet Justin Kluivert, who has been delivering some outstanding displays for the Dutch club this term.
The youngster, still only 18 years of age, is a quality performer already, capable of playing across all three striking positions to equally good effect.
Kluivert already has a reputation to uphold, following the glittering career of his father Patrick, and a move to City would be a step in the right direction to emulating some of that success he saw his old man achieve.
A classy player in his own right though already, Kluivert has the potential to be a world beater, and City would no doubt trump a lot of onlooking clubs if they were to swoop and complete a deal for Kluivert this year.
