Report: Arsenal looking to beat Tottenham to signature of La Liga ace

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with what Unai Emery has already managed to achieve and will be hoping to see at least a couple more additions be added to their squad.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager has been active in the transfer market ensuring that his squad is as strong at the back as is possible, with the additions of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulous.

Lucas Torreira is thought to be heading to the Emirates Stadium once the World Cup is finished, however, reports in Italy are appearing to suggest that they could be about to bring an attacker to north London as well.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the Gunners are the favourites to land Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, ahead of rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Euro 2016 winner has struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp following his move from Valencia and it is believed Ernesto Valverde could be prepared to sanction a move.

Valued at 40million euros, it is expected that a bidding war could breakout for the Portugal international, however, Arsenal will be hoping to convince him to join them rather than their arch-rivals.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Arsenal fans in the Tavern will be pleased with the work that Emery has already done and would see Gomes as a smart signing for the Gunners.

The Portuguese star failed to hit the heights at the Nou Camp, however, he rarely played regularly and the locals in the bar will feel if he did get the first-team football at a more often rate, he would produce the form he showed at Los Che, prior to his move to the Catalan giants.
