Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be desperate for their club to add a number of players this summer as they look to strengthen following their successful campaign last year.
Rafa Benitez’s side finished the Premier League season in mid-table after battling against relegation for the majority of the year, but they are keen to improve on those displays.
The Magpies have already signed Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal this summer and it is believed the club want to add a top striker to their side, however, recent reports suggest that a potential deal has not progressed as the locals would have hoped.
The Newcastle Chronicle are suggesting that the club have not made an approach for Jordan Ayew yet – a player who is ready to quit Swansea City following their relegation and is not a priority for Benitez.
Salomon Rondon is also thought to be high on the Spaniard’s list, however, there are now concerns that the Venezuela international could prove to be too costly for the Magpies to sanction a move, despite West Bromwich Albion’s eagerness to offload him.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be growing frustrated at their club’s lack of movement in the transfer window and will want to see a number of names brought in to ensure they can remain in the Premier League next season.
Rondon is a proven goalscorer in the top-flight, however, his personal terms are thought to cause concern and have put Benitez on the fence about making a move for him.
