Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern could finally be in for some good news on the transfer front when it comes down to one of their crucial players.
The locals in the bar have become frustrated in recent windows with the club’s recruitment policy, which has been echoed by Rafa Benitez, and have been unable to attract some of their targets in recent years.
Those frustrations clearly remain at St. James’ Park for the time being, however, they could be set to receive a boost in regards to one player, who the Spaniard is adamant he will not not be letting depart this summer.
According to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle, Benitez has been impressed with the performances of Florian Lejeune and will not consider any offers that will be made for the defender, amid interest from Spain.
The Frenchman was one of the manager’s main targets last season and he proved to be influential in helping the Magpies achieve a top-half finish in their first year back in the Premier League.
The Newcastle fans will want to keep Lejeune at the club for next season after he built a solid partnership with Jamaal Lascelles towards the end of the year and will be pleased that the club will not consider any offers for him.
However, the locals in the bar will be frustrated that there has been a lack of activity on the recruiting front, despite having signed Martin Dubravka to a permanent deal, and will want to see the Magpies spend in the next couple of months.
