Report: Benitez to consider swap deal with Premier League side for proven attacker

Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting the club to make a number of additions this summer in order to remain competitive.

The Magpies finished in mid-table of the Premier League last season as Rafa Benitez performed way beyond the expectations of a number of the locals in the bar. Having spent much of the early stages of the year in and around the relegation zone, many felt that they could be heading back to the Championship.

Benitez is keen to make sure the squad is as strong as possible for the upcoming season and is drawing up a list of targets, which could include a Premier League attacker, per reports in The Sun.

AFC Bournemouth’s Josh King has caught the eye of the Spaniard who is desperate to add an attacker to the St. James’ Park outfit, however, he could lose one of his best players to accommodate the switch.

It is being claimed that Matt Ritchie could head back to the Cherries to allow a move for the striker, as Newcastle want to pay less than the £20million the south-coast side want for King.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern would be disappointed to see a player like Ritchie leave St. James’ Park this summer after having a significant impact on the side.

The winger was instrumental during the second half of the season, however, if they were to get a striker of King’s ability for him, then many of the locals will hope it’s a move that pays off hugely.
