Report: Everton identify prime transfer target with ambitious bid being lined up

Everton fans here in the Tavern are extremely excited about the start of the new campaign, with Marco Silva looking to hit the ground running at Goodison Park.

Indeed, the Toffees will want to challenge for a European place next season after struggling to ensure consistency at times, with a successful transfer window helping them on their way. And, it looks as if Marco Silva is looking to make great strides on the transfer front, as according to the Telegraph, Everton are poised to make a £25 million bid for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and have identified him as a prime target.

Interestingly, Everton are preparing a £25 million bid for Celtic’s highly-rated left-back Kieran Tierney.

Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands are looking to rebuild the squad over the pre-season, and Tierney is believed to be a prime target. Silva wants a long-term successor to Leighton Baines, and the Scottish international has proved himself capable in both full-back roles as a versatile defender.

However, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to hold onto the youngster as he goes on in search of yet another treble next season, so the Toffees may find it hard to lure him to Goodison Park.

Landlord’s Verdict:

So, it looks as if Everton are preparing an ambitious bid for the youngster, with Manchester United previously submitting an interest in the defender. And, if they do manage to secure the 21-year-old then they may just secure a European spot next season.
