Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are looking on with excitement as the summer transfer window is now in full swing, with Jurgen Klopp already splashing the cash.
Of course, the Reds desperately need to bring in a goalkeeper this summer after witnessing Loris Karius’ mistakes in the Champions League final, with many of our local Liverpudlians wanting to see a world-renowned shot-stopper brought to Anfield. However, it looks as if the Reds won’t be able to secure a couple of reported targets this summer, as according to Arab News, Fenway Sports Group are unlikely to sanction a club-record fee for either Jan Oblak or Alisson Becker.
Indeed, Liverpool go on in search of a new goalkeeper this summer, with Alisson and Jan Oblak both high on the Merseyside club’s wishlist.
However, it’s understood that Fenway Sports Group are unlikely to sanction a club-record fee for either of the goalkeepers this summer, with Liverpool already committed to spending well over £100 million on transfer fees for Naby Keita, Fabinho and working on other transfers.
So, after seeing how long it took for Liverpool to bring in a quality central defender over the past couple of years, perhaps the Reds will make a similar mistake by not signing a goalkeeper this summer.
Worrying times for Liverpool as FSG are unlikely to splash out on a goalkeeper this summer which could leave them in deep trouble, as Loris Karius has already shown that he can’t be trusted. So, with aims of going one better in the Champions League next season and challenging for the Premier League title, Liverpool will need to get a move on to lure in a goalkeeper this summer.
