Tottenham supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side kick off the New Year with a comfortable 2-0 success at struggling Swansea City on Tuesday night, in turn keeping the pressure on the Premier League’s top four.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men ended 2017 with successive victories over Burnley and Southampton, although found themselves seven points behind fourth place Liverpool by the time they kicked off at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday following the Reds’ win over the Clarets on New Year’s Day. Nonetheless, Spurs secured a routine success over Carlos Carvalhal’s Swans as goals from Fernando Llorente and Dele Alli eased them to a 2-0 victory, moving them to within four points of the Merseysiders ahead of their London derby against West Ham this evening.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Tottenham fans in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are likely to be intrigued and perhaps excited by a recent report from The Bleacher Report, which discloses the ‘dream signing’ their side seek to make, namely that of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.
The 25-year-old moved back to Selhurst Park permanently in 2015 after a tricky time at giants Manchester United, and he has since proven his worth once again with seven goals and 11 assists for the Eagles last term to help them avoid the drop under Sam Allardyce.
And with four goals and two assists this time round, the Ivory Coast international looks set to play a key part in their survival hopes once again, with his fine form reportedly attracting the interest of Pochettino’s Spurs, who reportedly label him as the ‘dream signing’.
And while a move this month may prove difficult, a deal for the 25-year-old ace could well take place in the summer.
Landlord’s verdict: Wilfried Zaha played a vital role in keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League last season, and indications suggest that the 25-year-old will play a similarly integral part this time round as well.
The 25-year-old is a matchwinner and has already bagged four goals for Roy Hodgson’s side this term, form which has continued to attract the interest of Tottenham and manager Mauricio Pochettino.
And recent reports disclose that the Ivory Coast star is the ‘dream signing’ for the North London outfit, and while a January move is seemingly unlikely, there appears to be optimism that something can be agreed in the summer.
