Report hints at what Everton fear amid transfer saga

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are still talking about THAT Wayne Rooney goal as they wax poetic about the new dawn at Goodison Park.

With Ronald Koeman splashing the cash at Goodison Park, the Toffees in the Tavern are hoping the Dutchman can launch a genuine challenge on the top six.

So, with a new era to get excited about, what of Ross Barkley? The boyhood Blue has been linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea after snubbing a new deal on Merseyside, with Koeman confirming he’d be sold this summer.

However, reports from the Daily Mail hint at a complication. They claim the England international has suffered a fresh injury in training, just after he returned following a hernia operation.

The 23-year-old reportedly went down clutching his hamstring at Finch Farm and had to be helped off the field. Now, he’ll apparently undergo a scan, with Everton said to be fearful Barkley could face an extended layoff.

Whether or not it impacts a transfer remains to be seen, though our resident Evertonians would rather focus on the players who actually want to be at the club.

Landlord’s Verdict:

It’s yet more frustration for Ross Barkley. Perhaps a move away from Everton can help him finally embark on the upward trajectory prophesied by so many of our punters, though this ailment could seriously impact the chances of that.
