Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to their Champions League final showdown with Real Madrid, however, the locals in the bar will be excited about the latest transfer rumours.
The Reds have struggled to find a number one, despite Loris Karius having performed to a high standard and are now considering to make a move for Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon, according to a report in The Sun. The legendary goalkeeper has revealed that he will be leaving the Old Lady at the end of the season and could decide to continue playing.
Jurgen Klopp is thought to have sanctioned the swoop for the 176-time capped Italy international, who won the 2006 World Cup, and despite being 40-years-old, he is thought to still be able to do a job at the top level.
The Reds have had a difficult time in trying to find a number one they can be confident with, as Karius and Simon Mingolet have both struggled with being consistent.
The locals in the Tavern would be delighted with the possibility of the Italian legend joining them, however, a number of the punters would be concerned that he could just be a signing that was available to be made.
At the age of 40, he has definitely seen his best days behind him, however, the acquisition of Buffon could prove to be more beneficial off the pitch, rather than on the field.
