Report: Liverpool star keen on January exit

Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are hoping for another terrific performance from their front-three tonight, as Daniel Sturridge seems to have become a thing of the past for the Reds.

Daniel Sturridge was apparently subject to a loan offer from Spanish club Seville in the past week, which happened to be rejected by the Reds. And, according to the Mail Online, the Englishman has now decided he wants the move to Spain as he looks to kick-start his career in the La Liga.

Having received an enquiry also from Italian giants Inter Milan, it’s safe to say that teams have been interested, but the stubbornness of the Reds is going a long way to halting any movement in this transfer saga. And, Liverpool have made it clear that they only have intentions to let the player leave on a permanent transfer. Although, the £30 million price tag slapped on the striker has been the subject of no interest thus far.

For a player that was so pivotal in their closest quest towards a Premier League title, he seems to now be a man of the past as fans all around Anfield have become fixated on their prolific front-three. The England international hasn’t appeared for the Reds since their 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow back in December, and he’s failed to travel to the Liberty with the squad ahead of tonight’s encounter with Swansea City.

Indeed, with the World Cup later on this year you can understand the desperation in the eyes of the Liverpool man, as a move away from Anfield is his only hope in booking a seat on that plane to Russia.

Landlord’s verdict

A move to Seville would suit the striker. Indeed, they are a Champions League side that offer some very appealing football, suited to the talents of the Englishman. As a proven goalscorer, regular minutes in Spain would ensure that he’s given the correct opportunity to showcase his ability to Gareth Southgate.

Although, Liverpool look unlikely to be budging from a permanent deal, and the asking price is surely too high for clubs interested to pay.
