Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have all come to an agreement after their disappointing Champions League defeat at the weekend – that they need a new goalkeeper.
The Reds were undone by Real Madrid in the final last Saturday by two costly errors from Loris Karius and despite Gareth Bale’s wondergoal, where very much in the contest. The German shot-stopper angered the locals in the bar and many will be looking for Jurgen Klopp to find a suitable replacement.
The manager has realised he needed a new number one for some time, however, performances from the 24-year-old had changed and turned him into a fairly reliable ‘keeper at times.
It has been no secret that Klopp is targeting Alisson Becker to replace Karius, and the Guardian are claiming the Anfield outfit will make further contact with AS Roma about a potential deal. The Serie A outfit are determined to keep the Brazil international and are prepared to make the Premier League club wait until after the World Cup before accepting an offer, although it will need to be in the region of £79million.
The need Liverpool have for a goalkeeper has only been highlighted by the horror show from Karius, however, it will remain to be seen if they are prepared to pay a record fee for the 25-year-old.
They may not have a choice but to make an offer as huge as £79M to sign him, with Roma in no hurry to sell, whilst Real Madrid are also believed to be interested in the Brazilian.
Should Liverpool bring Alisson to Anfield, the locals in the Tavern will feel that they are within a chance of competing for the Premier League title next season, with the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita joining them and Nabil Fekir being touted as a possible acquisition this summer as well.
